Overview: Dell Technologies is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This role focuses on advanced thermal and CFD analysis within server infrastructure, collaborating with stakeholders to optimize cooling performance, cost, and reliability across products and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Work with key stakeholders to align modeling requirements, performance metrics, and boundary conditions for thermal simulations.
- Build and preprocess models, create meshes, run simulations, post-process results, and analyze findings.
- Conduct parametric studies to optimize thermal performance and identify opportunities for design improvements in cost, power, and cooling efficiency.
- Present findings to thermal engineers and management, communicating technical results and recommendations.
- Establish and maintain consistent modeling practices and processes within the CFD team.
Requirements
- Essential: 5–8 years of experience in server thermal modeling and thermal design.
- Experience with CFD modeling and liquid cooling for electronics, including fluid flow and heat transfer analysis.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) modeling, ideally in ANSYS for part deformation.
- Proficiency with Star CCM+ and specialized tools such as Icepak or FloTHERM for advanced thermal modeling and simulation.
- Strong CAD experience, particularly CREO and Windchill.
- Desirable: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on CFD; experience in automation of CAD updates and cleanup, scripting in CREO or Windchill, and automating pipelines from CAD in Windchill to simulation in CCM, FloEFD, FloTHERM, etc.
