About the Role Paramount is seeking a Senior Lead / Principal ML Engineer to lead the ShortForm & Video Intelligence pod. You will shape the engineering roadmap to automatically transform Paramount's massive long-form content library into high impact ShortForm previews, gists, and social-ready highlights, while ensuring safety, contextual understanding, and discoverability across the Paramount ecosystem. What You'll Do
- Define the technical roadmap for automated clip generation and video insight, managing a high-performing pod of ML engineers.
- Architect multi-modal models that synthesize signals across video, audio, and text to understand content context.
- Own video intelligence by developing and scaling robust computer vision and audio classifiers for nudity, profanity, and sensitive content detection.
- Advance narrative understanding by building models that identify hooks, climax points, and narrative summaries to automate trailers and highlights.
- Spoiler and context detection to create intelligence layers that identify plot-critical spoilers to avoid ruining viewing experience for new users.
- Build scalable content pipelines by partnering with Content Engineering to integrate models into petabyte-scale video processing workflows. What We're Looking For
- 6-8+ years of experience in machine learning with heavy focus on CV and multi-modal architectures.
- Deep learning expertise with PyTorch or TensorFlow for video tasks such as Video Transformers or 3D CNNs.
- Video intelligence experience building safety/moderation models (nudity, profanity, hate speech) or content tagging systems.
- Leadership experience leading senior technical teams and translating creative goals into engineering requirements.
- Video tech stack knowledge of video processing frameworks (FFmpeg) and handling codecs/resolutions at scale. Nice to Have
- Experience with Generative AI for Video (automated editing or style transfer).
- Background in NLP/Speech for syncing transcripts with video frames.
- Knowledge of Narrative Theory or experience in the media/entertainment industry.
- Experience deploying large-scale models in Cloud Environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) with high GPU utilization efficiency. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 233,600.00 - 350,400.00 per year.
- Bonus eligible.
