About the Role
- Acts as a senior laboratory scientist, performing complex and specialised testing, guiding junior staff, and supporting quality and biosafety.
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior practitioner in laboratory, performing complex / specialised laboratory testing and providing a clinical/technical resource to colleagues.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and checking of junior staff and trainees.
- Support biosafety compliance and quality assurance at section level.
- Contribute to audit, quality improvement and CPD.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognised institution.
- Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience in the relevant profession and post-registration experience in medical laboratory science practice beyond entry level.
- Experience supporting and guiding junior medical laboratory science staff.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory practice across disciplines.
- Ability to perform complex/specialised testing and guide junior staff.
- Sound understanding of quality control and biosafety.
- Equipment competence and fault identification.
- Effective communication and record-keeping.
