Job title: Principal Engineer
About the Role The Principal Engineer leads mineral processing R&I programs and technology projects to deliver new and improved products and applications. You will collaborate with R&I Scientists, Engineers, Chemists, and TS&D teams to validate concepts through lab and field testing and drive commercialization.
What You'll Do
- Define and execute mineral processing research and development programs for new and improved products, technologies, and applications.
- Design and implement lab and field tests to validate and commercialize products; lead pilot and industrial-scale trials with project teams and customers.
- Communicate research findings clearly, both internally and externally; document results.
- Identify opportunities for IP protection and support patent applications or product registrations.
- Stay current with technical literature, industry trends, and flotation technology developments; participate in conferences and present papers.
- Mentor, train, and coach R&I colleagues and develop technical expertise within the global TS&D team.
- Collaborate with internal departments (R&I Synthesis, Analytical, Manufacturing, Commercial & Sales) and customers to achieve innovation targets.
- Ensure positive safety behaviors and compliance with best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s or PhD in Mining (preferably with Flotation knowledge), Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Surface Chemistry.
- 8+ years of experience in specialty chemicals applications; mining chemical applications and commercialization experience required.
- Hands-on laboratory, pilot, and industrial flotation experience.
- Knowledge of chemistry, mineralogy, colloid and surface chemistry, and electrochemistry.
- Experience with experimental design, statistics, and data analysis.
- Ability to teach and coach peers; strong communication and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work autonomously with good organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% (domestic/international).
Nice to Have
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
- Familiarity with IP strategy, patent applications, and product registrations.
- Knowledge of current flotation technology trends and market developments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: US$108,000.00 – US$165,000.00 annually. Total compensation includes bonuses and/or incentives.
