Principal Engineer - Electrical

About the Role The Principal Engineer - Electrical will lead teams and projects with broad business impact, specializing in distributed generation (DG) interconnections. The role involves developing strategy, mentoring engineers, and representing Engineering in industry associations. What You'll Do

• Proactively identify and perform special projects and studies that solve unique and complex problems with broad impact to the business.
• Solve Distributed Generation (DG) interconnection problems (e.g., customer generators, photovoltaic systems, fuel cells) and develop innovative design concepts.
• Approve, maintain, and understand drawings (schematics, one-line diagrams); assemble documents for assignments of complexity using breadth of expertise.
• Lead project teams, mentor engineers, and coordinate resources outside of the department.
• Develop business cases, manage divisional or company-wide projects, and forecast/schedule budgets and resources.
• Presentations to regulatory/public entities when required.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and industry codes; review engineering work of others for compliance. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience; Professional Engineering License.
• Theoretical engineering knowledge in planning, operations, design, modeling, and calculations; global view of the business.
• Practical engineering experience in planning, operations, design, construction; field experience preferred; ability to perform economic analyses and defend business cases.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to review/approve work for compliance with standards/requirements.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory standards; ability to communicate with regulatory/public entities; strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Leadership and mentoring skills; ability to lead a team and influence others; strong communication and presentation skills. Nice to Have
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• A professional engineering license from the State of Connecticut preferred. Compensation & Benefits
• Base salary: $128,000 – $160,400 per year, with up to 16% bonus.
