Job title: Principal Engineer, Customer Quality
About the Role This role serves as the customer’s key contact and interface for all quality-related aspects and is responsible for handling customer quality complaints. The role operates globally, collaborating with factories, engineering, sales & marketing, technical teams, and external customers to resolve quality issues with root causes and corrective actions. The Customer Quality Engineer aims to build a high-engagement, customer-centric quality culture and deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience by acting as a trusted partner while aligning and driving internal improvement.
What You'll Do
- Act as focal point for all quality-related customer communications including quality complaints; voice of the customer to internal teams; lead customer-facing quality discussions, issue resolution, and quality reviews.
- Establish and deploy global customer quality standards. Collect customer-specific requirements and support the review, disposition, and execution of such requirements within the product, manufacturing, and operations environment.
- Facilitate Product Change Management (PCN) to meet customer requirements and support timely implementation. Work with factories to organize and facilitate customer audits to demonstrate Quality Management System compliance and effectiveness to standards including ISO, IATF, VDA.
- Support business reviews and new opportunities while contributing to product lifecycle management decisions. Prepare and present quality performance summaries at internal management reviews.
- Lead the development and execution of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) to drive continuous improvement in customer quality scores including product quality, service and responsiveness, and customer specific requirements.
- Support customer product inquiries for both existing products and new product opportunities. Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years in Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing principles and processes, with failure analysis or reliability experience a plus.
- Knowledge of complex electrical or mechanical assemblies. Understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9000, IATF16949 / VDA, ISO13485; audit experience in automotive or medical standards is a plus. Knowledge of 8D problem solving, requirements management, change management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Experience in a global manufacturing environment preferred, with understanding of operations / planning / logistics. Knowledge of executing safe launch procedures and product/process transfer activities. Advanced knowledge in MS Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization. Team oriented and responsive. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a high-pressure environment. Up to 25% travel.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Audit experience in automotive or medical standards is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $123,100 - $190,780 per year (USD).
