Job title: Principal Embedded Software Engineer

About the Role The Principal Embedded Software Engineer will join Silvus Technologies, a Motorola Solutions subsidiary, to lead and contribute to the design and development of high-performance embedded firmware for MANET radios. Based in West Los Angeles, CA on a hybrid schedule, this role covers device drivers, networking, encryption, and security features across ARM and related platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the architectural design and development of highly efficient low-latency embedded firmware on ARM-based SoCs (e.g., UltraScale+), and optimize Linux-based networking stacks for wireless applications.
  • Implement the software portion of MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols.
  • Develop network management software and web interface implementations.
  • Implement various security protocols and encryption algorithms.
  • Develop audio streaming and push-to-talk voice applications.
  • Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria.
  • Implement testing software for product performance and reliability testing.
  • Develop and maintain device drivers and board support packages for ARM and RISC-V based systems.
  • Perform Linux system customization and scripting.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering fields.
  • 8+ years of relevant embedded system software development experience.
  • Hands-on and lead expertise in designing and developing embedded firmware using embedded Linux on ARM processors for networking, signal processing, and/or wireless applications.
  • Expertise in C programming and Linux kernel driver development.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • Background check and drug test clearance.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of CNSA encryption algorithms and security protocols.
  • Experience with socket programming and Internet/Ethernet protocols.
  • Understanding of MAC and Networking layer of a communication system.
  • Experience with AMD UltraScale+ MPSoC and Microchip Polarfire BSP development.
  • Deep understanding of IPsec, data authentication, and encryption.
  • Linux Interrupt Service Routine development.
