Principal Associate, Risk Management (US Card)

Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. The Principal Risk Associate will have a high level of exposure across the Card business and the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead change control efforts at the process level to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented, and implemented
• Facilitate the risk assessment process associated with new/changing intent for multiple Card business areas
• Provide risk consulting to one or more business areas relative to their business lines, providing advice and guidance as required
• Develop management reporting based on risk assessments
• Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders that enable collaboration across the enterprise
• Ensure process frameworks are delivered within established enterprise standards
• Coordinate various process interactions, including meeting logistics, and facilitate collaborative meetings with 1st and 2nd line process participants
• Partner with data analysts to iterate and improve upon risk monitoring and reporting
• Synthesize data and perform analysis to bring valuable business insights to the Card business
• Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes
• Monitor systems of record for accuracy, quality, and consistency
• Provide training to stakeholders as needed
• Connect the strategic and operational priorities to the changing risk environment, partnering with risk advisors and the business to understand impacts
• Partner with a wide range of internal customers across all levels
• Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to question the obvious, explore options, and seek to develop and implement efficiencies and process improvements

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience
• At least 2 years of financial services or risk management experience
• At least 2 years of project or process management experience
• At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience facilitating and conducting Risk Assessments

• 1+ years of experience developing presentations for senior stakeholders

• 3+ years of financial services or risk management experience

• 3+ years of project or process management experience leading cross-functional projects and programs in Risk

• 3+ years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients

• Professional certifications within risk management, project management, or assurance (e.g., PMP, Master Certificate of Project Management, Certified Risk Management Professional, or Certified Internal Auditor).

• The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

• McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Risk Specialist

• Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist

• Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

• This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
