About this role
About the Role Applied Technology seeks a technically proficient and versatile Antenna Engineer to contribute to multiple custom wireless products. This role focuses on design, development, simulation, and validation of antennas and RF systems to enable wideband/multi-band and mmWave capabilities. What You'll Do
- Design, simulate, and optimize custom antenna elements for wideband and multi-band applications.
- Lead the design of active phased array systems, including feed networks, phase shifters, and beamsteering architectures.
- Perform full-wave EM simulations using ANSYS HFSS and CST Studio Suite to analyze gain, efficiency, return loss, and radiation patterns.
- Collaborate with RF Front-End teams to integrate antennas with filters, LNAs, and power amplifiers, ensuring impedance matching and minimal link-budget loss.
- Conduct prototyping and validation in Anechoic chambers and near-field/far-field ranges to validate hardware against models.
- Address mmWave design challenges such as atmospheric absorption, high path loss, and tight tolerances.
- Collaborate with RF ASIC team on development of beamformer ICs.
- Regularly work with customers to develop product requirements and communicate technical status; travel to meetings as needed.
- Contribute to business development and proposal efforts. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (basic requirements).
- 8+ years of design experience.
- US citizenship with ability to obtain necessary security clearance (government contracts).
- Expertise in EM simulation: ANSYS HFSS and CST Studio Suite (expert level).
- Deep understanding of Phased Array Theory: grating lobes, mutual coupling, beam scanning range, Taylor/Chebyshev weighting.
- RF circuit design proficiency in Cadence for matching networks and system-level budgets.
- Mastery of measurement hardware: VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
- Knowledge of high-frequency substrate properties (Rogers, Taconic, Megtron) and mmWave performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, multitasking, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
- Travel under 10% and relocation not provided. Nice to Have
- Understanding of System-in-Package (SiP) and Antenna-in-Package (AiP) technologies. Compensation & Benefits
- Target Base Salary Range: $100,100 - $160,200 USD annually.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision; 401K with company match; incentive bonus plans; 10 paid holidays; generous paid time off; employee stock purchase plan; paid parental and family leave; and more.
