About this role

Principal Analytics Engineer - Global Reporting & Analytics

About the Team

The Global Reporting and Analytics team sits within the Clinical Solutions Platform organization. We turn client data and usage into validated, reusable, enterprise-grade reporting — building the capabilities the business needs to deliver customer value and growth. We go beyond usage dashboards, running impact and outcomes analyses that connect product usage to real value for clinicians, and we work problem-first, partnering closely with product, marketing, and account management teams to give our people the data-driven insights they need to create better experiences for our customers, faster.

About the Role

As Principal Analytics Engineer, you'll be the technical lead within the Global Reporting and Analytics team, reporting to the Director of Global Reporting and Analytics, and owning technical execution from discovery to production. You'll work closely with both our analytics team and our engineering/development partners, providing the technical depth and context each side needs from the other.

You bring strong software engineering depth, deep comfort with SQL and Snowflake, and a genuine affinity for analytics — with the curiosity to build real fluency in our analytics domain over time, to the point where you can represent it confidently and independently in technical conversations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between the analytics team and engineering/development partners — translating analytics needs into clear requirements, specifications, and development tickets.
  • Provide hands-on technical depth for the team: deep Snowflake fluency (data engineering experience a plus), excellent SQL, and code review across SQL, Python, and JavaScript (Highcharts), contributing code directly where useful.
  • Coach and mentor analysts on technical concepts and coding, building technical fluency and elevating capability across the team over time.
  • Champion opportunities to bring more coding, automation, and AI tooling into the analytics team's work — prototyping new approaches and driving innovation in how the team operates.
  • Explore how AI could shape the next generation of our reporting — new kinds of insights and experiences we could offer customers and stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical thought partner as new products, features, and initiatives are planned across the business — helping ensure analytics needs are considered from the start.
  • Contribute to the technical design of our reporting and analytics platform — data model choices, performance trade-offs, and level of detail — and help determine how reporting and AI-enabled work should integrate with broader enterprise systems, partnering with engineering on execution.
  • Contribute to improving data quality, alerting for potential issues, and regression testing to catch problems before they reach production.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise non-negotiables: security, compliance, data governance, data residency, PHI/PII handling, and central technology infrastructure standards.

Requirements

  • Engineering experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with experience in data engineering or building analytics data pipelines.

  • Education: BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.

  • Snowflake: Deep, hands-on experience with Snowflake; data engineering experience with Snowflake strongly preferred.

  • Languages: Excellent SQL, strong Python, strong comfort with JSON, and working knowledge of JavaScript.

  • Data modeling: Strong grounding in data modeling concepts, comfortable making and explaining recommendations on structure, performance trade-offs, and level of detail in reporting.

  • BI platforms: Working familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau — enough to engage confidently in analytics discussions and help identify opportunities to move calculations and data manipulation upstream, out of the BI layer. Hands-on Tableau experience is a plus.

  • AI & tooling: Comfortable using AI to accelerate coding and everyday work. Experience creating reusable tools or workflows that help scale technical knowledge across a team is a plus.

  • AI / LLM familiarity: Working knowledge of concepts like LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented approaches — enough to lead a project in this space, representing the analytics needs and collaborating with architecture and engineering partners on design and implementation.

  • Communication & mentoring: Exceptional at explaining technical concepts to audiences with a wide range of technical backgrounds, and comfortable coaching less technical colleagues with patience and care — a distinguishing strength for this role.

  • Leadership and delivery management: Plans and sequences work, manages scope, dependencies, and priorities, removes blockers, and drives delivery to keep innovation and reporting modernization moving.

  • Work in a Way That Works for You

  • We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization. We offer an appealing working prospect for our people. With numerous wellbeing initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance, and sabbaticals, we will help you meet your immediate responsibilities and your long-term goals.

  • Working Pattern

  • Working flexible hours - flexing the times when you work in the day to help you fit everything in and work when you are the most productive.
