Job title: Pretrial Services Supervisor
About the Role Join the New Jersey Judiciary as a Pretrial Services Supervisor in the Monmouth Vicinage. You will lead a team of Pretrial Services staff and act as a liaison with internal units and local stakeholders to support fair and efficient pretrial decision-making. This role emphasizes data-driven practices, compliance with program guidelines, and community outreach to advance criminal justice reform and high-quality service.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise the vicinage Pretrial Services Officers; assign work; conduct performance evaluations; provide guidance and training.
- Serve as liaison for Pretrial Services within the vicinage, the Pretrial Services Unit in Criminal Practice, and with local stakeholders (e.g., Prosecutor, Public Defender, County Jail, etc.) to ensure effective collaboration.
- Provide staffing for first appearance/CJP hearings and ensure the judge is provided with accurate reports and information to make pretrial release determinations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with program guidelines; review statistical reports; identify issues of concern and recommend improvements.
- Work with the Pretrial Services Manager to train stakeholders and engage in community outreach related to criminal justice reform.
- Supervise the Pretrial Services Officers; assign work; conduct performance evaluations; and conduct training for staff.
- Provide excellent customer service to a diverse community of court users, including multi-lingual and self-represented litigants.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays; may qualify for up to 2 days remote under hybrid schedule.
- Perform related duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience, including at least one year in case management; enforcement of court orders; and/or supervision, monitoring and intervention of offenders.
- Substitution: Associate degree with two years paraprofessional/professional experience (one year equals 30 semester hour credits); a master's degree may substitute for one year of general experience; a law degree may substitute for two years of general experience.
- Education Note: Degrees from outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
- Residency: New Jersey First Act may apply; all persons may be required to meet applicable residency requirements.
- Driver's License: Appointees must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if vehicle operation is necessary to perform essential duties.
- Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
- Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required; selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: Schedule A $74,551.38 to $129,437.61 and Schedule B $74,551.38 to $122,965.72. For newly hired individuals, starting salary is at the minimum of the range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.
- The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule with up to 2 remote days; requires multi-factor authentication and high-speed home internet access to participate.
