CONFIDENTIAL PREPARED FOODS TEAM MANAGER
Specialty Grocery & Food Service | Boston, MA
A well-established, family-owned specialty grocery business is seeking an experienced Prepared Foods Team Manager to oversee prepared-food operations across two Boston locations.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands food production, prepared foods, team development, inventory, purchasing, and cost control. Culinary experience is valuable, but the primary focus is strong management, organization, and the ability to develop and lead a team.
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000–$125,000 base salary
- Employer-paid parking
- Semiannual bonus/profit-sharing opportunity based on sales, food costs, labor, and profitability
- 401(k) with 3% company match from day one
- Employer covers 50% of health insurance premiums
- Dental and vision available
- 2 weeks PTO
- Transportation available when travel between locations is required
Key Responsibilities

Prepared Foods Operations
-
Oversee prepared-food operations across both locations

Manage daily food production and workflow
-
Establish and maintain recipe and production standards
-
Develop menus that are practical and attainable for the team to execute

Maintain appropriate production pars
-
Oversee purchasing, inventory, and product ordering
-
Maintain consistent quality and presentation
-
Implement and maintain SOPs and training programs
-
Identify opportunities to grow catering and pickup business
-
Team Leadership
-
Lead, train, coach, and develop the prepared-foods team
-
Hire and onboard new team members
-
Establish clear responsibilities and delegation of duties
-
Cross-train employees to build flexibility and bench strength
-
Develop employees for advancement within the company
-
Maintain a respectful, positive, team-oriented culture
-
Lead by example with a hands-on management style
-
Cost & Inventory Management
-
Manage and improve food costs
-
Manage labor and staffing levels
-
Monitor inventory and purchasing
-
Maintain appropriate pars
-
Minimize waste and improve production efficiency
-
Maintain strong margins across prepared-food offerings
-
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
-
Management experience in prepared foods, specialty grocery, food service, or hospitality
-
High-volume food production experience
-
Strong leadership and team-development skills
-
Experience managing food and labor costs
-
Knowledge of inventory, purchasing, production, and recipe standards
-
Experience developing SOPs and training programs
-
A hands-on management style
-
Culinary or food-production experience
-
Conversational Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
-
Candidates with experience managing prepared foods in a grocery store, specialty market, upscale hotel banquet operation, or similar high-volume food-service environment are encouraged to apply.
