About the Role The Practice Medical Assistant supports Penacook Family Physicians under the supervision of providers, assisting in patient examinations and basic treatments. The role includes clerical, environmental and organizational support to maintain efficient clinic operations. What You'll Do
- Follows guidelines for answering phones, identifies patient's health problem or concern, and directs calls per practice guidelines.
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs, updates medications and allergy lists, and records information in the EMR.
- Prepares treatment rooms, stocks and cleans, and assists providers by preparing patients for examinations and aiding with procedures.
- Demonstrates clinical skills in practice and supports scheduling by booking patient appointments and handling referrals per guidelines.
- Inventories and orders medical supplies, removes outdated materials, and ensures proper labeling.
- Uses Centricity, GroupWise, and Portal per established protocols for documentation, requests, and initiating tests and orders.
- Greets patients, escorts them to exam rooms, and prepares instruments for sterilization.
- Performs job-specific duties and other assigned tasks. What We're Looking For
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred; or Licensed Nursing Assistant program completion; or military medical training with commensurate experience.
- Certification/Registration: Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professionals; EMT certification accepted until MA obtained; MA certification required within first three years for hires on/after Oct 1, 2018.
- Experience: With an accredited MA program, no experience required; LNA must have at least one year of healthcare experience; trained Military Medic equivalent to one year related experience.
- Availability: Flexible to work Tuesdays and Thursdays (per posting). Nice to Have
- Experience using EMR software such as Centricity, as well as GroupWise and Portal. Compensation & Benefits
