Job Title: Power Station Operator

Location: Nigeria

Job Summary

• The Power Station Operator is responsible for the daily operations, continuous monitoring, record-keeping, reporting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and performance improvement of the Power Station.
• Working under the direction of the Power Station Manager, the operator ensures optimum performance, maximum uptime, and customer satisfaction. This role is based at the Field Location in Ibigwe, Ohaji-Egbema, Imo State, and reports to the CEO of the Company’s Industrial & Innovation Park Company Limited.
• Preference for candidates who currently reside in Port Harcourt, Owerri, or surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Operate diesel and gas generators, including starting/stopping, opening/closing circuit breakers, and managing valves.
• Monitor and log hourly readings of generator production, fuel consumption, and system parameters.
• Implement preventive maintenance tasks and coordinate with vendors for scheduled maintenance.
• Conduct non-routine inspections of installed assets and engage specialists as needed.
• Manage inventory records and monitor stock levels for parts and consumables.
• Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance or coordinate repairs with OEMs and contractors.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, digitize records, and submit weekly reports to HQ.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures and maintain cleanliness.

Requirements

Required:

• BSc or OND in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, Chemical/Process).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power plant operations or industrial power distribution.
• Hands-on experience with gas and diesel generators, gas conditioning infrastructure, and low/medium voltage electrical panels.
• Experience operating plants using SCADA or remote monitoring systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and understand trip settings.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work in remote/industrial environments.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of instrumentation and metering systems (Coriolis meters, PD meters, energy analyzers).
• Experience with CAT, Perkins, or MTU generators.
• Familiarity with 400V, 11kV, and 33kV distribution systems.
