Job Summary

  • The Power Station Operations Team is responsible for the daily operations, continuous monitoring, record-keeping, reporting, preventive and corrective maintenance and performance improvement of the Power Station, with a view to ensure optimum performance, maximum uptime, maximum revenue and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate diesel and gas generators, including starting and stopping as required.
  • Open and close circuit breakers, switchgear, panels, and valves as required for safe plant operations.
  • Support the Plant Manager/Superintendent during operational events, including black starts, shutdowns, planned and unplanned outages, and pump starts.
  • Coordinate with customers during operational events as directed by the Plant Manager/Superintendent.
  • Keep the Plant Manager/Superintendent informed of all operational activities and developments.
  • Conduct continuous real-time monitoring, logging, and routine inspection of generators and plant equipment.
  • Take hourly readings of generator production, condition, and fuel consumption.
  • Monitor generator parameters including kWh output, running hours, engine oil level and pressure, exhaust temperature, vibration and noise, power quality, harmonics, load balance, and battery charge status.
  • Take hourly readings of gas pressure, including maximum, minimum, average pressure, and totalised gas volume.
  • Monitor and record diesel consumption and totalised volume.
  • Promptly report alarms, abnormalities, equipment malfunctions, unusual readings, or conditions that may affect safety, reliability, or load capacity.
  • Support the Plant Manager in implementing the approved Preventive Maintenance (PM) Programme.
  • Coordinate regular generator servicing with relevant vendors in line with the approved maintenance schedule.
  • Service and maintain associated monitoring and control circuit equipment.
  • Coordinate the implementation of scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Engage designated contractors to inspect and assess the condition of passive plant assets.
  • Coordinate periodic specialist inspections of transformers, panels, meters, cables, and other power station assets in accordance with OEM manuals.
  • Operate and monitor SCADA/remote monitoring and control systems.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience operating gas-powered and diesel-powered generators.
  • Operate and monitor gas conditioning infrastructure, low- and medium-voltage electrical panels, and switchgear.

Salary

N3,000,000 - N4,000,000 monthly.
