About the Role The Power Energy Storage Trader will be part of Spearmint Energy's Optimization team, responsible for dispatching battery energy storage system assets and optimizing energy and ancillary service offers in day-ahead and real-time markets. What You'll Do
- Dispatch Spearmint’s battery storage assets as part of the Optimization team.
- Execute energy and ancillary service offers in day-ahead and real-time markets using internal software and forecasting tools.
- Analyze and manage market risk; monitor nodal pricing, transmission topology, and power flow constraints.
- Collaborate with Research team to incorporate quantitative inputs; retain discretionary authority when appropriate.
- Report to Head of Optimization; participate in around-the-clock dispatch and ensure alignment with risk controls and company goals. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's in a quantitative discipline; ≥2 years of power trading experience.
- Strong knowledge of day-ahead/realtime and ancillary markets; risk management; nodal pricing.
- Ability to travel on short notice; must be authorized to work in the US.
- Experience analyzing and trading power at the nodal level; deep understanding of transmission topology, dispatch and bidding, ISO LMP and ancillary service pricing; power flow constraints. Nice to Have
- Familiarity with futures and other hedging markets.
- Experience with nodal market trading and forecasting tools. Compensation & Benefits
