Responsibilities

  • Poultry Workers will be responsible for the daily care and management of birds within the school's poultry unit.
  • Responsibilities will include feeding and watering birds, cleaning and maintaining poultry houses, collecting and properly handling eggs, monitoring the health and welfare of birds and maintaining good hygiene and biosecurity standards.
  • Poultry Workers will also assist with record keeping, including feed usage, egg production, bird mortality and other relevant farm records, and promptly report any signs of illness, disease or unusual behaviour among the birds.
  • All successful candidates will be expected to work responsibly, follow instructions from the relevant supervisor or management, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and contribute positively to the development of Preston International School's environment and agricultural initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Practical knowledge or experience in gardening, farming, poultry production or a related agricultural field.
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work.
  • Knowledge of basic plant care, crop cultivation, animal or poultry care, depending on the specific role.
  • Ability to use and maintain basic gardening, farming or poultry equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of hygiene, health and safety procedures.
  • Good observation, organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Previous experience in a similar role will be an advantage.
  • Relevant agricultural, horticultural or vocational training will be an added advantage.
