About the Role The Department of Physics at Syracuse University seeks a postdoctoral researcher in experimental Soft Matter and/or Biophysics to join Patteson's lab under the supervision of Prof. Alison Patteson. The role involves designing and conducting experiments, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, and contributing to grant applications.

This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the SEIU, Local 200United.

What You'll Do

  • Developing and conducting experimental studies in either (A) the vimentin cytoskeleton and its role in cell migration or (B) the collective motion and pattern formation in bacteria colonies
  • Design and implement new experimental protocols, acquire data, interpret and analyze results, and contribute to manuscript writing and new grant materials
  • Collaborate with members of the BioInspired Institute at Syracuse

What We're Looking For

  • PhD in Physics or related discipline
  • Experience designing experimental protocols, data acquisition, interpreting and analyzing data, and writing manuscripts
  • Ability to provide input and written materials for grant applications and to collaborate across groups

Nice to Have

  • Background in soft matter, biophysics, cytoskeleton research, or bacterial colony dynamics (as relevant to the role)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $60,450 - $65,450 per year
