About the Role The Syracuse University Experimental Gravitational-Wave Group is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to advance technology for current and future gravitational-wave detectors. The appointment involves independent research and advising graduate students within the group. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal, and the position is part of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU, Local 200United.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct research on technology for current and future gravitational-wave detectors.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students in the Syracuse University Gravitational-Wave group.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in optics, electronics, controllers, vacuum systems, and interferometric simulations as needed.
  • Present results and contribute to group meetings and publications.

What We're Looking For

  • Ph.D. in physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in one of the following areas is desirable: optics, electronics, controllers, vacuum systems, or interferometric simulations for gravitational-wave detectors.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an on-campus research environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $62,400 - $68,000 per year.
  • Location: Syracuse, NY (onsite) with on-campus presence required.
  • This position is part of SEIU, Local 200United bargaining unit.
