About this role

About the Role The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW in the Van Allen lab to work on the analysis of new datasets generated in the context of multiple clinically oriented cancer sequencing projects to advance precision cancer medicine. The role involves collaborating with division faculty on identification of cancer risk, risk mitigation, early detection, prevention, delivery of cancer care and health policy across patient contexts.

What You'll Do

  • Develop new algorithms, including agentic artificial intelligence approaches, for the clinical integration of integrative molecular profiling and large-scale datasets (e.g., pathology images and clinical notes) to enable new discoveries across multiple patient contexts.
  • Focus on advancing algorithm development through emerging deep learning techniques.
  • Evaluate and integrate existing tools and databases into high-throughput pipelines, and facilitate the display and distribution of processed data.
  • Participate in collaborative efforts with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Broad Institute, and other institutions to analyze sequencing data and relate genomic alterations to clinical behavior.
  • Design and implement algorithms to analyze data and integrate with clinical outcomes data; help generate tools for data manipulation, display, and transfer to external collaborators and repositories; maintain and document shared tools and data sets.

What We're Looking For

  • PhD in bioinformatics, genetics, statistics, mathematics, physics, or computer science, or comparable research experience, with significant experience in machine learning, computer programming, and computational biology applications.
  • Strong background in statistics and biology; experience with data analysis and building analytical pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Nice to Have

  • Interest in applying and advancing deep learning techniques to biomedical data.
  • Experience with clinical sequencing data and multi-omics analyses.
  • Experience in transferring data to external collaborators and maintaining software tools and codebases.
