About the Role Villanova University’s Department of Astrophysics and Planetary Science invites applications for the Mendel Postdoctoral Fellowship in Stellar Astrophysics. This is a 12-month, full-time position that supports innovative research and teaching, with opportunities to engage with the Villanova One Sky Center and university-wide equity initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Conduct independent research in stellar astrophysics and contribute to collaborative projects with Department faculty.
- Publish results in peer‑reviewed journals and present findings at conferences.
- Contribute to teaching responsibilities and mentoring of students; participate in outreach and professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in astronomy/astrophysics or a related field.
- Strong research background in stellar astrophysics and a record of scholarly productivity.
- Ability to teach and communicate effectively; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; willingness to contribute to the university's mission and values.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse academic community and participate in center initiatives (One Sky Center, VISIBLE).
- Applications require a cover letter, CV, a research statement (2-page max), a teaching statement (2-page max), a statement on contribution to the University's mission, and two letters of recommendation (requested directly from referees).
