Job title: Postdoctoral Fellow

About the Role The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Waltz, Department of Cancer Biology. The postdoc will select a mentor from 11 preceptors and pursue research within a predetermined scope, focusing on cancer biology and related mechanisms. This position offers training, collaboration, and opportunities to contribute to publications and grant activities.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct research experiments within the pre-determined scope and methodology.
  • Gather and analyze data, develop new ideas, and promote ongoing research.
  • Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations; participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication and/or grant writing.
  • Stay informed of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
  • Maintain lab operations, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies.
  • May teach techniques, train, and mentor junior research staff.
  • Engage in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Seek career and research advice from the faculty supervisor and other faculty members.
  • Perform related duties as required; note that job descriptions can be changed by the department.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD) with degree by date of hire.
  • In-depth knowledge of the specialized field; may require experience with specialized software.
  • Eligibility per grant stipulations: US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or protected person under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
  • Office environment; no unusual physical or environmental demands.
