About the Role Hinshaw & Culbertson seeks a post graduate law student awaiting California bar results to join its Defense Litigation practice. The role offers the chance to work with a collaborative team on national and international insurance clients across diverse coverage matters while gaining hands-on experience and mentorship in a growing practice. What You'll Do
- Assist licensed attorneys on defense litigation and insurance coverage matters, including cases in state and federal courts.
- Conduct legal research, draft memoranda and pleadings, and analyze complex issues across coverage areas such as bad faith, professional liability, pollution, construction defect, personal and advertising injury, cyber liability, and excess liability.
- Support case management, discovery, and filings; help maintain caseloads and deadlines; contribute to strategy discussions.
- Participate in training and mentorship programs to develop professionally. What We're Looking For
- Must have taken the California bar and be waiting for results.
- Civil litigation experience in both state and federal courts.
- Experience representing clients in insurance coverage matters preferred.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Nice to Have
- Recent sworn-in attorneys are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with insurance coverage matters and multiple coverage areas is a plus. Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated California salary: $120,000 to $140,000 per year (USD).
