About the Role The Portfolio Controller role is based in the Greater Washington area with hybrid work options. This position oversees the accounting function for AREP's real estate portfolios and leads a team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. What You'll Do
- Lead accounting activities for the portfolio, including consolidation and close processes
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to stakeholders
- Oversee and mentor the accounting team; drive process improvements and internal controls
- Handle JV and development accounting activities as part of the portfolio program
- Collaborate with asset management, operations, and finance to ensure data integrity
- Utilize Yardi and advanced Excel to analyze performance and prepare management reports What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's in accounting/finance or equivalent
- 10+ years progressive real estate accounting experience
- Experience with JV and development accounting
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and leadership experience
- Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel
