Job title: Polysomnographic Technologist/RCP
About the Role The Polysomnographic Technologist/RCP is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with expertise in conducting sleep studies, sleep staging, and technical scoring of sleep events according to AASM standards, and provides QA feedback. This role works closely with the Team Leader, Supervisor, Manager, and Medical Director to assure high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic sleep services in the Sleep Lab. It also emphasizes delivering an excellent patient experience by following all protocols, policies and procedures and hospital values.
What You'll Do
- Conduct polysomnography, sleep staging and technical scoring of sleep events according to AASM standards, including extended EEG, MSLT/MWT, and related assessments.
- Apply and titrate oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator support; manage airway and related devices as needed (airway management, trach capping).
- Calibrate and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment; contribute to implementation of new test modalities and QA feedback.
- Oversee supply inventory and mentor other staff, including orienting and supervising new sleep technicians; provide coverage as needed.
- Collect blood gas samples and perform analysis; provide patient and family education.
- Collaborate with Team Leader, Supervisor, Manager and Medical Director to ensure exemplary diagnostic and therapeutic quality and patient experience.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
- Ohio Respiratory Care Professionals License (RCP) required.
- Current credentials: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Strong knowledge of sleep diagnostic procedures, including polysomnography, sleep staging, MSLT/MWT, and adherence to AASM standards; ability to calibrate and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent patient and family education skills; ability to work collaboratively with a health care team.
- Ability to work night shifts (6:30 PM–7:00 AM, 7 nights per week) and provide coverage as needed.
