About the Role
The City of Bonney Lake seeks individuals to perform general duty police work to protect life and property, enforce laws, prevent and investigate crimes, and maintain order. This role reports to a Bonney Lake Police Sergeant and is part of a department that may offer opportunities for ancillary duties.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine and complex general duty police work including protection of life and property; enforcement of City, State and Federal laws; prevention and investigation of crimes; and maintenance of order.
- Work under the general supervision of a Bonney Lake Police Sergeant.
- May be assigned to work with new members of the department, reserve officers, temporary employees or volunteers as assigned or required; due to scheduling and seniority, an officer may be the senior on duty and may have to be in charge until a supervisor is notified.
- The department also offers opportunities for ancillary duties such as Marine Services Unit, Investigations, Metro Tactical Response Team, Field Training Officer, Public Information Officer, School Resource Officer, Metro Collision Response Team, CJTC TAC Officer, Firearms Instructor, and other opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to perform general police duties and enforce laws to protect life and property.
- Capability to investigate crimes, prevent disturbances, and maintain public order.
- Willingness to undertake ancillary duties and assignments (e.g., Field Training Officer, Public Information Officer, School Resource Officer) as needed.
- Ability to work under general supervision and potentially supervise other officers on duty.
Compensation & Benefits
Premium Pay: Education: 2.5% for AA/AS, 5% for BA/BS; Detective: 5%; Field Training Officer: 5%; Hazardous Duty: 2.5%; Motorcycle: 5%. Longevity Pay: A compounding longevity pay program with credit for Lateral Police Officers from service to a prior agency: Step 1: 7-10 years - 2%; Step 2: 10-15 years - 3%; Step 3: 15-20 years - 4%. Paid Time Off (PTO) bank available.
