Police Officer

About the Role

The City of Bonney Lake is seeking a Police Officer to perform routine and complex general duty police work, protect life and property, enforce laws, prevent crime, investigate incidents, and engage with the community. This role supports the department’s mission and requires independent judgment as well as teamwork.

What You'll Do

• Patrol the city to enforce laws, prevent crime, preserve peace, and protect public safety.
• Respond to calls and incidents, prepare accurate reports, and assist in resolving criminal, non-criminal, and civil issues.
• Conduct investigations, interview victims/witnesses/suspects, obtain search warrants, collect and preserve evidence, and testify in court when required.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/city laws and department policies; maintain knowledge of local landmarks and high-crime areas.
• Perform traffic and crowd control, respond to accidents and emergencies, provide first aid/CPR until responders arrive.
• Care for department equipment, transport and book prisoners, and maintain records and documentation.
• Attend court, provide testimony, and support community outreach and crime prevention initiatives.
• Maintain professional appearance, punctuality, and adherence to the Oath of Office; participate in committees as needed; stay current with technology and policies.

What We're Looking For

• Current possession of a Washington State Peace Officer Certification.
• Ability to perform a wide range of police functions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and department policies.
• Strong written and oral communication, research and problem-solving skills; physical fitness and resilience.
• Capacity to interact with diverse communities with respect and professionalism.

Nice to Have

• Premium pay premiums: Education (AA/AS 2.5%; BA/BS 5%), Detective (5%), Field Training Officer (5%), Hazardous Duty (2.5%), Motorcycle (5%). Longevity pay with step increases.
• Experience in specialized units or roles is a plus.
