Job Description
- Purpose of the Role
- To repair, operate and maintain the sanitary and plumbing system on site.
- Key Responsibilities 2.1. Operational Maintenance
- Maintain, repair, upgrade and install plumbing fixtures on site.
- Maintain an inventory of plumbing and related equipment.
- Check plumbing systems to detect leaks.
- Eliminate leaks by replacing valves or faulty fittings.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plumbing and heating systems.
- Perform emergency-related repairs where possible to meet urgent site needs.
- Perform other related duties as determined by the Maintenance Manager.
- Replace worn parts.
- Operate hand tools and power tools associated with plumbing trade.
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and that the work area is kept clean, tidy and secure.
- Analyze blue prints, schematics and drawings of plumbing systems for the purpose of determining the best installation of new or upgraded systems.
- Coordinate with assigned foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in plumbing/irrigation systems for the purpose of identifying repair and/or replacement needs.
- Fabricate equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
- Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
- Inspect buildings and facilities for the purpose of evaluating conditions, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
- Install plumbing systems and fixtures (e.g. hot water heaters, drinking fountains, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Prepare written material (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
- Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
- Transport various items (e.g. tools, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
- Report and assist in the analysis of incidents or potential hazards.
- Maintain an accurate time-keeping record relating to work tasks.
- Monitor and record the use of workshop consumables.
- Assist in the training of apprentices and other workshop staff.
2.2. Safety, Health and Environment Compliance

- Follow all the Health and Safety procedure/method statement/JHA/JSA and the control action points discussed in the toolbox talks diligently.
2.3. Stock Control
- Ensure adequate supplies and utilities are available for planned jobs.
- Maintain an asset register of supplies and equipment.
- Conduct regular stock take of inventory and investigate discrepancies.
- Order materials supplies needed per project according to procurement procedures.
2.4. Effective Teamwork and Self-Management

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Certification in plumbing
- Trade tested
- 5 years’ experience in similar environment
