About the Role We are seeking a Platform Engineer to contribute to DBT Labs' Product Platform Capabilities, helping to design, implement, and operate the data movement platform that powers transformations, security, governance, and extensibility. You will partner with product, data, and security teams to deliver scalable, reliable platform features across hybrid deployments. What You'll Do
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to maintain and enhance platform capabilities including transformations, security, governance, and extensibility.
- Build and maintain connectors for various sources and destinations (SaaS, databases, data lakes, data warehouses) and support custom connectors.
- Design scalable deployment patterns for hybrid environments, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Develop APIs, tooling, and automation to enable customers to connect, transform, and govern data movement at scale.
- Create observability through monitoring, metrics, and alerting; respond to incidents and drive reliability improvements.
- Document platform capabilities and provide internal and external technical onboarding materials.
- Work with customer-facing teams to understand requirements and translate them into robust platform features. What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally on data platforms or integration tooling.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), APIs, and data tooling (ETL/ELT, data warehouses, data lakes).
- Experience with security and governance concerns (authentication, authorization, encryption, data lineage) and compliance considerations.
- Empathy for customers and excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Product-minded with ability to balance speed and reliability. Nice to Have
- Experience with data integration products and ecosystem (e.g., Fivetran, DBT) and with partner integrations.
- Familiarity with DBT, SQL-based analytics, and data modeling concepts.
