Job title: Platform Engineer (Go, AWS)
About the Role Moment's Platform team builds the infrastructure that enables faster, safer engineering across the company. The role is to balance high-level AWS architecture with low-level Go backend work, bridging infrastructure and application code to increase developer leverage.
What You'll Do
- Architect 'golden paths' and maintain core shared libraries, SDKs, and code-generation tools (gRPC, OpenAPI) that power our entire engineering organization.
- Design and optimize cloud infrastructure; own our AWS ecosystem (ECS, RDS, MSK, etc.).
- Treat the platform as the product by embedding with product teams and reducing friction for developers.
- Debug production performance, tune databases, and automate toil to improve reliability.
- Elevate observability; establish standards for monitoring and debugging and teach the wider team how to troubleshoot.
- Be a mentor and technical leader, documenting patterns and guiding engineers on best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in backend programming with significant experience building high-performance backend services or libraries.
- Deep cloud fluency; architected and managed production workloads on AWS (ECS, RDS, Lambda, data streaming) with an understanding of cost, performance, and complexity trade-offs.
- DevEx mindset; history of building tools that improve developers' lives and treating documentation as a feature with clear guides.
- Strong ability to design and communicate architecture on whiteboards and in code; comfortable bridging infrastructure and product teams.
- Excellent collaboration, mentoring, and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $200K to $325K per year; Equity: aggressive initial grant + annual performance-based bonuses.
