Plant Superintendent - B Shift

About the Role The Plant Superintendent leads the production department for the assigned shift at Lear's Duncan Plant, overseeing planning, directing, and optimization of the manufacturing process. This role evaluates personnel and capital resources to meet production goals efficiently while ensuring products meet FMVSS specifications and quality standards. It also drives safety, cost control, and continuous improvement across the plant. What You'll Do

• Enforces health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the assembly of seats.
• Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
• Confers with senior management to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
• Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
• Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Demonstrates equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
• Observes work, and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production standards.
• Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems and complaints.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
• Analyzes information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
• Monitors and reviews information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Develops specific production goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and meet customer requirements.
• Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Develops budgets and approves expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, and equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
• Reviews processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
• Reviews operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
• Sets and monitors product standards, examines samples of raw products to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
• Develops and implements production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems.
• Monitors the production run to make sure that it stays on schedule and correct any problems that may arise.
• Devises ways to make the production process more efficient.
• Recommends training programs or reorganization techniques for the manufacturing process.
• Serves as Emergency IT Backup and System Administrator in absence of other IT personnel (if previously trained while acting as IT Specialist)
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure plant operations align with company goals, customer requirements, and financial targets
• Continued Drive operational excellence by monitoring KPIs such as safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all shifts and departments.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Develop and execute succession planning and talent development strategies for future leadership roles.
• Serve as a key liaison with executive leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies, providing updates on plant performance.
• Oversee new product launches, equipment installations, and major process changes, ensuring seamless integration with existing operations.
• Ensure the plant consistently meets or exceeds budget, productivity, and customer satisfaction targets. What We're Looking For
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and equipment.
• Strong leadership and people management abilities; capable of setting performance standards and monitoring results.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Budgeting, cost control, and resource planning capabilities.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with safety, health, and environmental regulations and FMVSS considerations as applicable to automotive manufacturing. Nice to Have
