Job title: Plant Operations Manager

About the Role Directs, plans and coordinates plant operation, maintenance, planning/scheduling, stores and staffing to meet site production needs. Manages day-to-day plant operations and maintenance planning and execution, champions employee and contractor safety programs, drives continuous improvement in plant operations and maintenance and actively participates in budget development and the effective management of allocated financial resources.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct leadership and oversight of the conduct of operations and maintenance resources of the facility.
  • Provide direction to operational and maintenance supervision, schedule shift resources and manage staffing issues.
  • Provide leadership for and development of direct reports. Embraces human performance improvement initiative.
  • Ensure that plant operations and maintenance personnel comply with safe work practices and processes, plant procedures and efficiently operate and maintain the plant equipment.
  • Develop procedures, checklists and performance measures to monitor process controls to ensure that all regulatory requirements (Safety, NERC, SOX, etc.) are fulfilled within staff.
  • Maintain operational procedures and system descriptions.
  • Work with system planning organization to maximize plant production, schedule unit testing, schedule planned outages and communicate operational issues and forced outage return to service.
  • Evaluate and champion gap closure actions that are consistent with the company's overall business strategy.
  • Ensure plant resources achieve annual power generation goals and objectives.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external interfaces and key strategic alliance partners.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop productive working relationships with IBEW resulting in mutual trust, benefit and success.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience; Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum experience: 5+ years of Power Plant Operations/Maintenance.
  • Excellent oral, written and computer skills; ability to build a strong team through leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff; commitment to safety and regulatory requirements (Safety, NERC, SOX).
  • Experience working with or coordinating with contract labor unions (IBEW).
  • This position is Safety Sensitive and subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred).
  • Union-related liaison experience or demonstrated ability to work with IBEW.
  • Knowledge of human performance improvement initiatives.
