Plant Logistics Manager

About this role

About the Role The Plant Logistics Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing all logistics operations within the plant, ensuring the efficient flow of materials, finished goods, and information throughout production and distribution. This role collaborates with internal departments, external suppliers, and transportation providers to meet production and delivery goals while maintaining cost-efficiency and high standards of quality and safety. What You'll Do

  • Manage scheduling, procurement, and material handling areas to specific performance metrics.
  • Partner with Plant Management to develop and implement processes that improve inventory management, aiming for major inventory reductions while boosting internal and external delivery performance.
  • Oversee shipping/receiving to achieve on-time delivery for internal and external customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement across supply chain controls using value stream mapping and kaizen events, reducing indirect labor, equipment, and inventory costs.
  • Develop and document standard work across all supply chain areas.
  • Develop and implement cycle counting and automatic replenishment with suppliers and internally to fabrication and assembly.
  • Manage sister plant and service parts orders.
  • Improve material flow within the manufacturing facility and streamline logistics to minimize cost and optimize resources. What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree; minimum five (5) years in a manufacturing environment with Lean concepts, MRP practices, and progressive supplier relationships.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience focusing on talent development, standardization, planning, execution, and process improvement.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Engineering; APICS CPIM certification; deep knowledge of computerized integrated information systems; experience with visual management systems.
  • Be a proactive change agent with leadership skills; excellent communication and negotiation abilities; strong customer service orientation; high-level organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities. Nice to Have
  • APICS CPIM certification highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP and manufacturing systems, visual management, and Lean methodologies.
