Job title: Plant Human Resources Manager
Ball Corporation is seeking a Plant Human Resources Manager to lead the plant HR function at our Fort Worth, TX facility. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, supporting the food safety system, administering HR programs, and ensuring compliant staffing and employee relations across the plant.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment; correct unsafe acts/conditions; facilitate monthly safety meetings; perform monthly safety inspections; investigate accidents as required.
- Support development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
- Administer and supervise the plant HR function; develop and maintain plant personnel policies and procedures in line with plant, group, and corporate guidelines.
- Administer wage, salary, and benefit programs in the plant in accordance with group and corporate policies.
- Ensure plant staffing needs are met through succession planning, recruiting, selection, and placement of candidates for plant positions; manage pre-employment processes including interviews, physicals (post offer), drug tests, background checks, and reference checks.
- Ensure employment practices comply with governmental regulations and laws (EEOC, ADA, Civil Rights Act, Affirmative Action Plans); oversee Workers Compensation investigations.
- Coordinate training programs and track results; maintain plant personnel functions and records (promotions, merit reviews, disciplinary actions) and implement policies and procedures.
- Provide effective new employee plant orientation programs and develop programs in employee relations to maintain a climate of trust and confidence.
- Develop and monitor plant safety rules and regulations; may arrange and administer plant safety programs; maintain familiarity with contingency planning and environmental management activities.
- Administer the collective bargaining agreement and address union-related issues (grievance resolution, arbitration if applicable); prepare for and participate in collective bargaining (if applicable); maintain positive relations with union officials.
- Establish and maintain relationships within the department, division, group, and company; manage workload and stress, with potential weekends and overtime as required.
- Perform administrative activities for management including selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, safety, counseling, motivation, planning, organizing, integrating and measuring work.
- Communicate with emergency coordinators and environmental teams; understand and respond to emergency directions; maintain environmental documentation as directed.
What We're Looking For
- Experience managing plant-level HR functions in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of safety, occupational health, and environmental management principles and regulations.
- Experience with wage, salary, and benefits administration, recruitment, succession planning, and personnel records management.
- Experience administering collective bargaining agreements and addressing union-related issues (grievances, arbitration) and participating in bargaining processes when applicable.
- Ability to develop training programs and maintain an employee relations climate of trust; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stress, adapt to a rotating schedule including potential weekends, and be available for overtime/on-call as required.
- Familiarity with emergency response protocols and environmental management activities.
