Job title: Planned Giving Director
About the Role Join the American Cancer Society as a Planned Giving Director responsible for developing and managing a program to secure deferred gifts (bequests, trusts, annuities) and sustain long-term financial support for the mission. The role emphasizes donor relationship management, collaboration with legal/financial advisors, and cross-team partnership to maximize planned giving revenue.
What You'll Do
- Meet in-person (60%+), by phone, and virtually with prospects, donors, and professional advisors to present the planned giving program and the Society's mission.
- Grow and manage a portfolio of qualified prospects through moves management: identification, cultivation, solicitation, execution, stewardship.
- Attain annual targets for personal visits, planned gift proposals, and new commitments.
- Utilize Salesforce to track and report prospect and donor activity and progression through moves management.
- Collaborate with philanthropy and other colleagues to blend gift proposals and cultivate additional planned giving prospects.
- Stay current on estate and gifting techniques, tax laws, and trends; remain knowledgeable about the Society's work.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; 3+ years' experience in nonprofit fundraising or related relationship-building; CAP/CFRE preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle; reliable internet connection.
- Experience with planned giving software (Crescendo/Salesforce) preferred.
- Strong judgment, confidentiality, organizational and communication skills.
- Customer-centric, strategic thinker, action oriented, results-driven.
- Interpersonal savvy, networking, persuasive communication, resiliency.
- Willingness to travel three or more days per week within the territory.
Nice to Have
- CAP/CFRE certification (preferred).
- Experience with Crescendo/Salesforce or other planned giving software.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary range: $90,000–$95,000 per year. Final offer based on experience and location.
