About the Role OPD, part of the Koch Engineered Solutions group, has an opening for a Pipefitter Helper at a jobsite in Galena Park, TX. This role supports pipefitters by assisting with setting, assembling, and installing pipe, with emphasis on safety and accurate work in industrial projects across natural gas, NGL, and petrochemical sectors.
What You'll Do
- Assist pipefitters with setting, assembling, and installing pipe.
- Prepare pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging; locate and mark bending and cutting lines on metal.
- Be familiar with different types of metals; understand pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.
- Clean work area and restock supplies; operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall.
- Work safely and accurately; participate in safety culture, recognize hazards, and follow OPD/client safety policies and procedures; be ready for on-site conditions and on-time attendance.
- Be able to work on elevated platforms and wear a safety harness and lanyard as required.
What We're Looking For
- 6 months of prior experience working in an industrial environment.
- Past exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.
- Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and to work as part of a team while following safety policies.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 60 lbs and standing for extended periods; ability to work on elevated platforms with proper harness.
