About the Role This role supports ICU inpatient care and other assignments (inpatient, ED, clinic) as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. The position involves collaborative practice under a physician Intensivist, with rounds, orders, and care coordination for critically ill patients. It may include nocturnal ICU shifts and per diem engagement.
What You'll Do
- Provide bedside assessment, rounds, and care plan development for patients in the ICU and inpatient units, writing orders and coordinating tests and procedures.
- Collaborate with consultants and the supervisory physician to determine the most appropriate care and discharge planning.
- Assist Emergency Department physicians and chest pain observation unit as needed; participate in varied roles within the ED consistent with licensure and hospital policies.
- In clinic assignments, obtain histories, perform exams, coordinate labs/diagnostics, prescribe medications, and educate patients on treatment plans.
- Share on-call and phone coverage responsibilities and assist with admitted patients within hospital settings.
- Operate under clinical supervision of an Intensivist and adhere to Advanced Practice Provider protocols and patient care guidelines.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program and current PA license (or eligible) to practice in Florida.
- 3–5 years of ICU experience; acute care ARNP/PA background required for ICU/nocturnal roles; PA-C or NP credentials as applicable.
- Valid BLS; ACLS; DEA registration; pediatric/neonatal credentials as applicable; ability to perform physical assessments and prescribe medications.
- Excellent communication, documentation, organization, and ability to work in a high-acuity environment.
- Licensure/certification requirements by area (ICU, Emergency Medicine, Pediatric ICU, NICU, etc.) as specified in the job posting.
Nice to Have
- FCCS certification; NRP/PALS or other specialty certifications.
- Advanced practice degree such as Family NP/PA; Massachusetts RN licensure and ANCC certification are listed as preferred in the source.
- Current Massachusetts CSR and DEA credentials as applicable.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage range: $54.31 – $85.40 per hour (per diem ICU nocturnal).
- Per diem engagement with potential for varied shifts and on-call responsibilities.
