About this role

Careers / Cabling + Security

Installs, configures, and services access control and video surveillance systems on Avigilon and Rhombus platforms, taking each system from installed devices to a trained client.

Full-Time, W-2 or Contractor 4 locations in AZ Mid Level Travel required

About this role

The Physical Security Technician installs, configures, and services the access control and video surveillance systems Unió Digital delivers for commercial, industrial, medical, and mine-site clients. You will work on Avigilon Alta, Avigilon Unity, and Rhombus platforms across new construction, retrofits, system takeovers, and service calls.

This role builds on low voltage work. It is where Unió Digital's cabling technicians go next, and where experienced security installers join the Cabling + Security team. You bring solid low voltage fundamentals and take each system to a working handoff: wiring doors, mounting and aiming cameras, registering devices, testing every door and camera, and training the client's staff. You will work with the Field Operations Lead and the Project Manager, and build to the Physical Security Engineer's design. You will also take on-site service work routed through the Physical Security Service Desk. Intrusion alarm panels and sensors are the Intrusion Technician's work, on the same crew.

Unió Digital is a Rhombus and Avigilon partner and a licensed Arizona alarm business. Occupied buildings sometimes mean after-hours work. Some client sites and mine sites require site-specific safety training, a background check, or drug screening before you can work there. This seat is open as a W-2 employee position or as a contractor engagement. W-2 employees receive company-paid certifications and training.

Offer factors

Where you land in the range depends on experience, certifications, and role scope.

What you'll do

  • Mount, aim, focus, and configure Avigilon and Rhombus cameras and HALO Smart Sensors, working from ladders and lifts, and verify each camera view against the design

  • Install and wire access control doors: controllers, readers, electric strikes and magnetic locks, power supplies, request-to-exit devices, and door position switches

  • Test every door for correct locking, release, and egress before handoff

  • Register, provision, and configure devices in Avigilon Alta, Avigilon Unity, and Rhombus, and complete device checkout to the acceptance tests the Physical Security Engineer specifies

  • Pull, terminate, and test the device cabling a job requires

  • Service existing systems on site: diagnose faults, replace failed devices, update firmware, and close the ticket with clear notes

  • Carry out takeovers and migrations of existing camera and access control systems to the engineer's plan

  • Train client staff at handoff to add users, review footage, and manage alerts

  • Document every install with photos, device records, and redlines, and log your time and notes in HaloPSA

  • Keep tools, test equipment, and materials secure, accounted for, and in working order

  • Follow Unió Digital's safety program: complete the daily pre-task plan, wear required protective equipment, and report hazards, near misses, and incidents

  • What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of low voltage field experience that includes installing or servicing commercial access control or video surveillance systems

  • Solid low voltage fundamentals: cable termination, device power, and reading wiring diagrams and door hardware schedules

  • Working knowledge of IP networking for security devices: addressing, PoE, VLANs, and switch port assignment

  • Experience with Avigilon, Rhombus, or comparable platforms is preferred, and manufacturer training is a plus

  • Clear communication with clients during installs, service calls, and training

  • Able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to climb ladders, work from lifts and in ceilings and tight spaces, lift and carry cable and equipment, and work in heat and dust

  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that Unió Digital's vehicle insurer accepts

  • OSHA 10-hour Construction card, or willingness to earn one after hire

  • Eligible to work in the U.S., based in or relocating to one of the listed hiring locations, and able to meet the published travel requirements

  • How We Work

  • Our Core Values

  • These four values are the same on every role. They describe how the team operates, not the duties of this posting.

  • Dream Big, Then Make It Real

  • Bring the ambitious idea, then do the work that makes it real. Ambition counts here, and so does follow-through.

  • Client Driven Results

  • Your scoreboard is the client's result. Find the solution, own the outcome, and treat their success as the job.

  • Own Your Progress

  • You own your work, your misses, and your next skill. We help. We do not hide from problems.

  • We Do It Right

  • Do the correct thing even when no one is watching. Quality is the job, not a slogan.

  • Equal Opportunity

  • Unió Digital hires for skill, character, and fit with our team. Full stop. We do not consider race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other legally protected characteristic in employment decisions. If you need an accommodation during the application or interview process, we’ll figure it out together.
