About the Role The Departments of Physics and Mathematics at Syracuse University invite applications for multiple faculty positions in quantum information science. These roles join the newly established Institute for Quantum and Information Sciences, an interdisciplinary effort spanning multiple departments in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the College of Engineering. The position is on campus in Syracuse, NY with regular in-person presence; remote work arrangements are limited by university policy.

What You'll Do

  • Lead an independent research program.
  • Teach and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Participate in departmental service positions and engage with the broader university community.

What We're Looking For

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Areas of interest include superconducting device physics, integrated photonics, quantum sensing and networking, and precision science.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an outstanding independent research program, and to teach and mentor students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Commitment to active participation in departmental and university communities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000 per year.
  • Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.
  • FLSA Status Exempt.
  • Hours are determined by the department chair; on-campus, in-person duties.
