Job Summary

The Office of Marketing and Communications is seeking a temporary Photographer to provide photography support for University of Michigan-Flint's visual communication needs. This position will photograph campus events, people and activities and produce high-quality visual content for university websites, social media, news stories, publications and other communications. Working with members of the Marketing and Communications team, this position will manage assignments from capture through editing and delivery while maintaining university visual and brand standards.

Responsibilities

• Photograph university events, faculty, staff, students, campus life and other subjects for use across university communication channels.

• Produce, edit and deliver high-quality photographs for websites, social media, news stories, publications and other digital and print materials.

• Work with Marketing and Communications staff to understand assignment goals, shot requirements and deadlines

• Select, edit, organize and prepare visual assets for timely distribution and use.

• Maintain consistent quality and appropriate visual standards across assignments.

• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced university environment.

• Provide occasional evening or weekend coverage of university events as needed.

• Required Qualifications

• Relevant education, training or professional experience in photography, visual media or a related field.

• Two or more years of relevant professional photography or visual media experience.

• Demonstrated experience photographing people and events in a variety of environments.

• Experience with professional photo-editing software.

• Ability to produce and deliver digital visual assets efficiently.

• Strong attention to detail, communication, organization and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple assignments.

• Portfolio or examples of recent professional photography demonstrating relevant experience and technical ability.

• Desired Qualifications

• Experience with videography and video editing.

• Experience photographing in a higher education, news, corporate or similar environment.

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable professional editing tools.

• Onsite

• The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

• Background Screening
