Job title: Phlebotomist - PRN (Part-time)
About the Role Bay Area Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist (PRN/Part-time) to obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages in a courteous and professional manner within the Laboratory. This role supports the Laboratory team and helps ensure accurate specimen collection to support patient care.
What You'll Do
- Obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages in a courteous and professional manner.
- Use computers and software (HIS/LIS) and operate related equipment (5-line telephone, Vacutainer system, syringes, butterfly needles, safety needles, finger-heelstick devices, autoclave, barcode printers).
- Maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision, including in trauma situations.
- Maintain legible handwriting and ensure regular, punctual attendance; comply with safety and standard precautions.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency or evidence of pending recertification preferred.
- Working knowledge of HIS and LIS computer systems and related lab equipment; familiarity with autoclave and barcode printers preferred.
- Experience with blood collection procedures and phlebotomy devices; ability to handle trauma and maintain professionalism.
- Strong communication, confidentiality, and ability to work interdepartmentally and with the public; legible handwriting; ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Nice to Have
- Certification with ASCP or equivalent preferred.
- Union affiliation: UFCW.
- Familiarity with Bay Area Hospital policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $19.85 - $29.46 per hour (experience-based).
