Job title: Phlebotomist - Part Time
About the Role Bay Area Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide courteous, professional blood collection and clerical support in the Laboratory. This part-time role combines patient-facing phlebotomy with essential administrative duties to ensure efficient workflow and accurate specimen handling.
What You'll Do
- Obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide clerical support, operate computer systems and office equipment, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow standard precautions.
- Demonstrate legible handwriting and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with patients, interdepartmental teams, and the public.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality at the assigned job location.
- Assist with phlebotomy-related equipment such as Vacutainer systems, syringes, safety needles, and finger-heelstick devices as needed.
- Adhere to safety procedures and assist with lab workflows as applicable.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Certification: Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency (ASCP) or show proof of pending recertification preferred.
- Experience: Working knowledge of HIS and LIS computer systems and related equipment; familiarity with Vacutainer systems, bar code printers, autoclave, and related lab equipment.
- Skills: Legible handwriting; ability to maintain confidentiality; strong communication; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; good computer skills.
- Physical/Other: Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds; able to work in a setting with exposure to blood and body fluids; standard precautions required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $19.85 - $29.46 per hour (USD).
