Job title: Phlebotomist II

About the Role Phlebotomist II at Swedish Hospital under Endeavor Health is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens, preparing and processing samples, and ensuring timely, accurate lab service support across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role supports quality initiatives and team training while maintaining professional appearance and customer service.

What You'll Do

  • Proficiently performs accurate venipunctures and capillary specimen collection for all inpatients and outpatients across all ages.
  • Operates the LIS and uses reference lab test menus to address the needs of lab service areas.
  • Prepares and assists in processing blood and body fluid samples per established testing requirements.
  • Addresses customer requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Assists in orientation and training of phlebotomy staff; identifies problems and notifies lead/supervisory personnel as needed.
  • Participates in and promotes adherence to hospital and departmental Quality Management initiatives.
  • Supports professional growth through education, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Maintains professional appearance and conducts self in a customer- and team-oriented manner.
  • Collects and/or handles body fluids or other samples (nasal/throat swabs, stool, urine, semen, breath samples).
  • Provides phone coverage and excellent customer service for questions and requests.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required; CPR-BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the AHA required.
  • Experience: Phlebotomy skills; 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and organization skills; moderate computer skills; strong customer service skills.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Nice to Have

  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
  • Prior phlebotomy experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $19.31 - $28.00 per hour.
