About the Role Phlebotomist I at Swedish Hospital supports inpatients and outpatients by performing venipuncture and specimen collection across all age groups. The role also involves operating the LIS, assisting in processing samples, and contributing to quality initiatives while delivering excellent patient and staff service. What You'll Do
- Proficiently performs accurate venipunctures and capillary specimen collection for all inpatients and outpatients for all age groups.
- Operates LIS and utilizes available resources including reference lab test menus to address lab service area needs.
- Prepares and assists in processing of blood and body fluid samples per established testing requirements.
- Ensures timely addressing of customer service requests.
- Assists in orientation and training of phlebotomy staff; identifies problems and notifies lead/supervisory personnel as needed.
- Participates in and promotes adherence to hospital and departmental Quality Management initiatives.
- Pursues professional growth through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
- Maintains professional appearance and behaves in a customer- and team-oriented manner.
- Responsible for collection and/or handling of body fluids or other samples including nasal and throat swabs, stool, urine, semen, and breath samples.
- Provides phone coverage and excellent customer service for addressing questions and requests. What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Phlebotomy certification preferred; CPR-BLS certification for Healthcare Provider by the AHA required.
- Experience: Phlebotomy skills; 1 year of experience preferred.
- Unique/Preferred Skills: Strong communication and organization skills; moderate computer skills; strong customer service. Nice to Have
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $18.84 - $27.32 per hour (USD).
