About the Role Phlebotomist Clerical Support at Bay Area Hospital obtains blood specimens in a courteous and professional manner from patients of all ages, while supporting laboratory clerical functions.
What You'll Do
- Obtain blood specimens, in a courteous and professional manner, from patients of all age ranges.
- Use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position.
- Operate applicable office equipment.
- Communicate effectively interdepartmentally and with the public.
- Maintain confidentiality and think and act independently with minimal supervision in all situations including traumas.
- Maintain legible handwriting.
- Maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency for medical laboratory personnel or the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or show proof of pending recertification preferred.
- Working knowledge of HIS and LIS computer systems and related equipment; 5-line telephone, Vacutainer system-syringes, butterfly needles, safety needles, finger-heelstick devices, autoclave and barcode printers preferred.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach and stretch frequently; may be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must use standard precautions due to exposure to blood and body fluids; effective reading, writing, and speaking skills; strong manual dexterity.
Nice to Have
- ASCP certification or pending recertification preferred.
- Union affiliation with UFCW (as indicated in posting).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $19.85 - $29.46 per hour (USD).
- Hours per Pay Period: 72; Time Type: Full time; Shift: As Assigned.
