About the Role Long Island University invites PhD students to join the Dassault Systèmes Center of Excellence for Life Sciences to work on virtual twin modeling of the heart, focusing on cardiotoxicity. In this role you will conduct PhD research under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Gallo (School of Engineering) and Dr. Kenza Benzeroual (College of Pharmacy) as part of LIU's CoE initiatives. LIU collaborates with Dassault Systèmes to advance digital transformation in life sciences and operates a state-of-the-art HPC laboratory with Dassault Systèmes software. The project centers on digital "virtual twins" of human anatomy to support precision medicine and research in pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare. What You'll Do
- Conduct PhD research on virtual twin modeling of the heart under the guidance of Dr. Gallo and Dr. Benzeroual, aligned with CoE research initiatives.
- Collaborate with LIU’s Center of Excellence and Dassault Systèmes on computational models and in-silico studies.
- Apply Molecular Dynamics simulation (Discovery Studio) and develop code in Python, MATLAB or C++ to investigate cardiotoxicity.
- Document, analyze and present analytical results; contribute to publication-ready findings.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, pharmacy and computational medicine. What We're Looking For
- Enrollment in a Ph.D. program with a strong understanding of the pharmacogenetics literature.
- Strong technical expertise in Molecular Dynamics simulation (Discovery Studio).
- Demonstrated working knowledge in Python, MATLAB or C++.
- Ability to document and present analytical results.
- Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate with research advisors. Nice to Have
- Experience with high-performance computing, AI, VR/AR software, or related digital health tools.
- Interest in life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, precision medicine. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $36,000 - $45,000 per year.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
- FLSA: Non-exempt.
