Job title: Ph.D. Research Data Scientist, GenAI
About the Role Join AIG’s new Generative AI team to advance AI in insurance and beyond. You’ll contribute to a strategic GenAI program, research cutting-edge techniques, and help build scalable, reliable AI products that transform how we manage risk and serve customers.
What You'll Do
- GenAI research and application: stay up to date with the latest GenAI advancements and apply them to design and implement architectures for LLMs, multi-modal models, and other GenAI applications.
- Agentic system development and optimization: design and build enterprise-level Agentic solutions, including data processing and curation, to mitigate biases and improve model performance; influence efficient agentic architecture for scalability and efficiency.
- Research strategy and direction: define the long-term GenAI research vision, identify key areas, set milestones, and own algorithms with proper documentation and code reuse.
- Collaboration and communication: explain complex research to engineering, product, and business stakeholders; translate findings into actionable insights and drive adoption.
- GenAI thought leader: advance GenAI expertise through ongoing learning, conferences, publications, and sharing of insights.
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. with 2+ years’ industry experience.
- Design and deploy Agentic AI solutions to automate complex business workflows, enhance decision-making, and improve customer and employee experiences.
- Translate research in agentic AI, reinforcement learning, and reasoning into practical solutions for underwriting, operations, claims automation, customer servicing, and risk assessment.
- Experience implementing Agentic AI frameworks to build autonomous systems in production.
- Strong ML, deep learning, and GenAI hands-on and scientific research skills.
- Have produced novel research related to agentic design and implementation.
- Experience designing and implementing Model Context Protocol servers to enable seamless integration between AI agents, enterprise systems, and external tools.
- Specialized expertise in fine-tuning, RLHF, RAG, and knowledge graphs.
- Knowledge of Palantir platforms (nice to have).
- Ph.D. publications in GenAI and/or Agentic work a plus.
- Passion for delivering work to real users and democratizing access to modern AI.
- Motivated by GenAI research that will be disclosed to the public.
- Strong communication skills and a preference for a small, fast-paced team.
