MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Perform PAUT examinations on welds, piping, pressure vessels, pipelines, and other components.
• Prepare and configure PAUT equipment according to approved procedures and inspection requirements.
• Select appropriate probes, wedges, scan plans, frequencies, and testing parameters.
• Perform calibration and sensitivity checks before examinations.
• Conduct scanning and data acquisition using phased array ultrasonic equipment.
• Analyze ultrasonic scan data and identify relevant indications.
• Evaluate indications against applicable acceptance criteria and project specifications.
• Produce accurate PAUT inspection reports and maintain examination records.
• Support weld quality verification during fabrication, construction, maintenance, and shutdown activities.
• Coordinate with welding, QA/QC, inspection, construction, and engineering teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review drawings, weld maps, inspection plans, procedures, and client specifications before testing.

• Develop or apply approved PAUT scan plans and examination techniques.

• Verify equipment calibration and functionality before and after examinations.

• Perform scanning from designated surfaces and ensure adequate coverage of the inspection area.

• Interpret A-scan, S-scan, C-scan, sectorial, and other applicable PAUT data.

• Identify, size, locate, and characterize discontinuities where required.

• Compare indications against applicable acceptance criteria.

• Perform repeat or confirmatory examinations when required.

• Maintain traceability of weld numbers, component identification, scan data, and examination results.

• Ensure digital inspection data is properly stored and controlled.

• Coordinate with other NDT methods such as UT, RT, MT, PT, and VT where required.

• Report rejected or suspect indications and support repair and re-inspection activities.

• Ensure safe working practices during inspections, including work at height, confined-space entry, offshore work, and other site-specific hazards.

• Maintain NDT equipment and report faults or calibration issues.

• Prepare daily inspection reports, examination records, and final NDT documentation.

• QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Technical certificate, OND, HND, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Technology, or a related discipline.

• Relevant certification in PAUT/UT, such as ISO 9712, PCN, ASNT, or equivalent, according to project requirements.

• Practical experience performing PAUT examinations in oil & gas, petrochemical, pipeline, fabrication, offshore, or industrial environments.

• Strong knowledge of ultrasonic testing principles, weld inspection, and defect evaluation.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld maps, inspection procedures, and acceptance criteria.

• Experience with phased-array instruments, probes, wedges, scanners, and data-analysis software.

• Knowledge of applicable standards and codes such as ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and project-specific requirements.

• Good understanding of NDT quality and HSE requirements.

• Strong analytical, reporting, documentation, and technical communication skills.
