Pharmacist

About the Role Dis-Chem Pharmacies require a reputable Pharmacist for their Jeffreys Bay store. Your portfolio will cover the provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs, and being accountable for meeting these needs in line with GPP and SAPC requirements. What You'll Do

• Evaluate a patient’s medicine-related needs by determining indication, safety and effectiveness of therapy
• Dispense medicines or scheduled substances per prescription from an authorised prescriber
• Sign off and check all prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns; accept accountability for correctness according to GPP 2.7.1.2.1.f
• Furnish information and advice on the use of medicines
• Determine patient compliance and follow up to ensure needs are met
• Provide pharmacist-initiated therapy
• Compound, manipulate, prepare, package medicines or supervise thereof; manufacturing where applicable
• Manage purchasing, importing, storage, packaging, repackaging, distribution, and selling of medicines or scheduled substances under supervision
• Apply for registration of medicines under the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act; contribute to registration/formulation/distribution activities
• Conduct pharmaceutical research and development and promote public health
• Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional, legally compliant manner
• Capture script details accurately in the system and verify patient details
• Ensure accurate picking/packing/labeling and awareness of dosages and interactions
• Provide clear instructions to patients on medicine use; explain medical aid costs
• Stay updated on medical aid procedures and claims
• Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter and front-shop
• Follow up on script tracking reports and appointment scheduling
• Manage patient profiles and assist with merging when required; respond to profile messages
• Assist Dispensary Manager with administration, reporting stock levels and stock errors
• Facilitate bi-annual stock takes and stock control processes; uphold health & safety, policies and SOPs
• Maintain housekeeping and adhere to uniform/personal appearance policies What We're Looking For
• Essential: Grade 12 / Matric; BPharm / equivalent; SAPC registration; minimum 2-3 years pharmaceutical experience; 2-3 years retail pharmacy experience (Student/Intern acceptable for some roles); computer literate (MS Office)
• Advantageous: Retail/FMCG experience; third additional language; SAP experience; e-scripting experience; Unisolv experience; registered tutor
• Competencies: strong English and second language, good communication, customer service focus, leadership potential, conflict management, attention to detail, numerical ability, problem-solving, teamwork, trustworthiness, time management, ability to work under pressure Nice to Have
