PFAS Data Manager
The PFAS Data Manager will oversee the analysis and curation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) research data as part of a long-term Center of Excellence created through a partnership with the USDA Agricultural Research Service. This position will perform two primary functions. First, it will consult with researchers across the project to support their data analysis needs, including data structure, workflows, and long-term preservation. Second, the Data Manager will establish, share, and maintain guidance for data curation created through the Center of Excellence. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $70,000 to $80,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
Required:
- A master’s degree in data science or closely related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 3 or more years of experience in research data management or a similar position
- Proficiency in one or more programming and data analysis languages commonly used for scientific data manipulation
- Demonstrated experience managing, integrating, validating, and analyzing complex scientific or research datasets in a high-performance and/or cloud computing setting
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, in particular with respect to data quality and integration issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to researchers and other audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in data science or a field topically related to PFAS
- Experience supporting data management within a higher education, research center, laboratory, or other collaborative research environment
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders of researchers, students, technical staff and administrators and to manage competing priorities and data needs
- Familiarity with data types associated with PFAS research, including environmental sampling, analytical chemistry, toxicology, remediation and EPA PFAS analytical methods and associated data reporting requirements
- Familiarity with FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), research data repositories, and data-sharing requirements associated with federally funded research
